When you're outfitting a van or organizing your shop, you aren't just buying brackets—you're buying insurance for your tools. At BOCO Custom, we design gear for people who actually use it. That means we don't believe in "one size fits all." A mount that lives on a stationary shop wall doesn't always need to be the same beast that's bolted to the door of a bouncy work van.
Understanding steel gauge is the key to choosing the right foundation for your tools.
THE RIGHT GAUGE FOR THE RIGHT JOB
In the world of metal fabrication, thicker isn't always "better"—it's about the application. We offer a range of thicknesses to match how you work:
-
14-Gauge (Light-Duty): This is one of our biggest sellers for a reason. It is the perfect choice for our Milwaukee Packout mounts. If your gear stays put on a shop wall, 14-gauge offers incredible strength and a slim profile without unnecessary weight.
-
12-Gauge (Medium-Duty): This is the sweet spot for our Husky Build-Out mounts. It provides that extra bit of rigidity needed for larger drawers and bins, ensuring they stay level and secure.
-
10-Gauge (Pro/Mobile Grade): This is our "overbuilt" standard for heavy-duty mobile builds, like our Klein MODbox mounting plates. If your tools are in a vehicle, you want the zero-flex security of 10-gauge plate steel to survive potholes and off-road vibrations.
THE STEEL THICKNESS CHART
A lot of mounts coming out of overseas factories use 16-gauge steel (or thinner). While that might save them money on shipping, it doesn't save your tools from rattling. Here is how our material options stack up against everyday objects:
| Steel Gauge |
Decimal (Inches) |
BOCO Standard / Comparison |
| 16 ga |
0.0598" |
Penny (Typical Amazon Quality — Too thin for us!) |
| 14 ga |
0.0747" |
Nickel (BOCO Light-Duty / Packout Wall Mounts) |
| 12 ga |
0.1046" |
House Key (BOCO Medium-Duty / Husky Mounts) |
| 10 ga |
0.1345" |
Two Dimes Stacked (BOCO Mobile Grade / MODbox) |
BUILD ONCE. CREATE OFTEN.
We use CNC-laser precision to ensure that whether you're buying a light-duty wall mount or a heavy-duty van plate, the fit is rock solid. We don't settle for "paper-thin" imports that bend the first time you hang a heavy bag, and you shouldn't either.
